The pontoon crossing that russian troops built across the Seversky Donets near Belogorivka in the Luhansk region on May 8 has been destroyed. However, the fighting continues, as a number of military occupiers succeded to cross.

Serhiy Haidai, the head of the regional military administration, told Radio Svoboda about this.

According to him, the fighting lasted all night on May 9.

"I will say briefly: the crossing has already been destroyed. In the morning. A lot of equipment is lying on the shore, something fell into the river. But let's wait and see what will happen today, because this is a very important situation," he said.

As of May 9, the most active battles in the Luhansk region are near Rubizhne, Belogorovka and on the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway, Gaidai said.

Previous day six russian attacks were successfully repulsed, 20 tanks, one artillery system, 28 units of armored combat vehicles, one special armored vehicle and five units of vehicles were destroyed in Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts. Air defense units shot down three Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles.

On May 8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces withdrew from Popasna, Luhansk Oblast. The fighters took positions that were prepared in advance.
