russian UN mission in Geneva counselor Boris Bondariev resigned. He wrote in his statement that he "had never been so ashamed for his country", The Guardian reports.
The executive director of the human rights organization UN Watch Hillel Neuer posted Bondariev's statement on his Twitter.
"For twenty years of my diplomatic career I have seen different turns of our foreign policy, but never have I been so ashamed of my country as on February 24 of this year. The aggressive war unleashed by Putin against Ukraine, and in fact against the entire Western world, is not only a crime against the Ukrainian people but also, perhaps, the most serious crime against the people of russia, with a bold letter Z crossing out all hopes and prospects…," – the Bondariev's statement reads.

The russian mission counselor criticized the russian Foreign Ministry's work as "simply catastrophic" for its "propaganda cliches in the spirit of Soviet newspapers of the 1930s".
Bondariev writes that he can't work in the russian federation's MFA and share in "this bloody, witless, and absolutely needless ignominy" anymore.
In his turn, Hillel Neuer called on "all other russian diplomats at the United Nations – and worldwide – to follow his [Bondariev's – ed.] moral example and resign".
This month, the UN voted to start investigating the rf's alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
Also, the Ukrainian authorities called on the UN Human Rights Council to organize a special session to address the rf's war crimes against civilians.
