Trailed self-propelled howitzers FH70 are already used by Ukrainian defenders on the front line.
This was announced on Facebook by the operational command West.
"Trailer self-propelled howitzers FH70 155 mm caliber are already destroying the enemy on the front line. Thanks to the semi-automatic projectile loader, a trained crew can make up to 6 shots per minute, almost every 10 seconds," said the military.
They added that these howitzers are equipped with Volkswagen's own 1,700 ccm engine, which feeds the hydraulics of the gun when translating it into combat or folding. This engine allows the FH70 to move independently, without a tractor for distances up to 20 km at low speeds. That is, the FH70 howitzer is trailed, but still self-propelled.
The country that handed over these weapons to Ukraine is not named. In mid-May, the Italian newspaper La Republicca reported that the FH70 howitzers had been handed over to Ukrainian defenders by Italy.
