The United States, along with the European Union and UK, has announced the creation of an Advisory Group to Investigate russian Military Crimes during the War in Ukraine.
The group will be mainly based in Poland and will include international specialists, including prosecutors and forensic experts. They will provide advice and assist the Ukrainian authorities in gathering evidence and drafting indictments, the Washington Post reported, citing a State Department statement.
"It is very important to ensure that all those responsible for the horrific crimes committed during the unprovoked russian military aggression in Ukraine are brought to justice. There can be no impunity for war crimes," said EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell.
Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova said Ukraine was investigating more than 13,000 reports of war crimes.
This week the first Russian military man who appeared before court since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine received a sentence. Shishimarin, commander of the 4th Kantemirov Panzer Division of the Moscow Region, was sentenced to life imprisonment for shooting a peaceful Ukrainian civilian.
