The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate [UOC MP] at its council condemned the war in Ukraine, declared its "full independence and autonomy", and disagreed with the Russian patriarch Kyrylo. This is stated in the resolution of the council that took place on 27 May.

"The council condemns war as the violation of God's command "Thou shalt not kill!"... We express our disagreement with the position of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia Kyrylo regarding the war in Ukraine. The council adopted corresponding additions and amendments to the Charter on managing of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church which testify to full independence and autonomy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church," – the UOC MP press service reports citing the resolution.

The Moscow Patriarchate is also planning to create church communities for Ukrainian refugees.

Also, the council called the Orthodox Church of Ukraine "non-autocephalous" and accused it of "forcing the transitions" of its parishes.

On 24 May, the Bishops' Council of the OCU took place. As a result of the council, [the head of OCU – tr.] Epifany will address the Ecumenical Patriarch and the heads of local churches asking them to hold Kyrylo accountable under canon law and deprive him of his patriarchal throne.

Since the start of the full-scale rf's invasion, more than 400 UOC parishes have moved to the OCU.
