On May 30, the russian military fired on a car that was driving to pick up people from Luhansk Region. A foreign journalist was killed in the shelling, Serhiy Hayday, head of the Luhanska regional state administration, has said on Telegram.
"Today our armored evacuation vehicle took 10 people from the region and came under enemy fire. Shrapnel pierced the armor of the car, French accredited journalist, who made material on the evacuation, was terminally wounded in the neck. The patrol officer was rescued by a helmet," he wrote.
Serhiy Gaidai stressed that the evacuation of people from Luhansk region was officially stopped.
Update. The dead journalist worked for BFMTV, writes The Guardian, citing the Parisien newspaper.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that Frederic Leclerc-Imhoff was in Ukraine to cover the real war.
"On board a humanitarian bus, along with civilians, he was forced to flee russian bombs and was mortally wounded," the president said.
