Negotiations with russia have been suspended in the political and diplomatic part, but are continuing in the humanitarian part. It concerns the exchange of prisoners, humanitarian corridors, and evacuation attempts.

Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the President's Office and a member of the negotiating team, said this in an interview with LB.

"Why is the political and diplomatic part suspended? Because negotiations are a question of the connection between what is happening in the real world, not only on the battlefields, but in general: sanctions, reputation, partners. Russia is looking at all this inadequately. "This is a phenomenon that will also be included in textbooks," he said.

The adviser to the head of the OP stressed that the russians sincerely believe in their propaganda and "liberation of Ukraine", so when they come to the talks, they cannot communicate with adequate people.

So far, according to Podoliak, there is no possibility of adequate perception of the world by russia's political elite.

"But when they start to suffer significant military defeats, for example, they will probably be more adequately assessed. When the sanctions pressure is fully in place, they will begin to understand. When certain leaders, including European ones, with whom they still communicate, do not speak as Kissinger, and as Anti-Kissinger. Then they will look at the situation more objectively," he said.

Another option for resuming the political part of the talks is the decision of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

"He, definitely got the deepest scope of the situation. He will decide on the basis of what we’ll have on that particular day. I mean: the economic situation, the military, the psychological state of society. By the way, it is desirable that society also understood, that war hasn’t stopped. The President may decide that we need a certain tool right now, and that might be a negotiation. It will be the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief based on the operational situation on the day he makes that decision." he stressed.

The President of Ukraine stressed that he was ready to negotiate directly with putin. He added, that if the conversation fails, it could be the beginning of World War III. The condition for negotiations with putin is that they must take place without intermediaries, and the only issue on the table will be the cessation of the war.

Negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and the occupying power have stopped. The last face-to-face meeting was on March 29 in Istanbul. On May 17, a member of the negotiating team, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, confirmed the suspension of talks.

The talks are over as russia's military-political leadership is still stereotypical and ignores the changes that have taken place in Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
