The crews of Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters withstood heavy russian air defenses and enemy aircraft, which were concentrated in and around Mariupol to deliver the necessary supplies and assistance to Azovstal's defenders. A total of seven flights were made.
Of the 16 helicopters involved, two were destroyed by the russians. The occupiers also shot down another who came to the aid of one of hit down.
Despite difficult conditions, Ukrainian pilots flew to Mariupol to deliver food, drinking water, medicine and ammunition. A total of seven such missions were carried out. In one of them, 72 soldiers of the Azov Regiment were taken there by helicopter, who reinforced the unit already on Azovstal.
We will remind, earlier the president Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that many Ukrainian pilots were lost, delivering to Azovstal water, food and evacuating wounded.
