Russian troops have taken control of about 50% of Severodonetsk. Battles are taking place in the center of the city, Roman Vlasenko, head of the Severodonetsk district administration, said on the air of Radio Liberty.
"Russian troops control a significant part of the city of Severodonetsk, battles are taking place in the central part of the city. Their first assault was unsuccessful, our soldiers managed to force them out of the city. The second time, when they entered the outskirts, they managed to entrench and create a certain bridgehead. Geographically, along the perimeter, the assault actions took place in three directions at once," Vlasenko said.
It has been impossible to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians for about a week already. Evacuations have not taken place for days, and the enemy is shelling everything nonstop.
"We urge locals to stay in protective shelters while the fighting is intense and tense," the head of the Severodonetsk district administration said.
About 15,000 civilians remain in the city out of the 120,000 who lived there before the full-scale aggression began. Most of those remaining do not go as a matter of principle. According to Serhiy Hayday, head of the Luhansk RMA, the russians are planning to "mop up" the villages around Severodonetsk. The Ukrainian military remains in the city and repels attacks.
