Russia could lose about $ 10 billion a year due to the EU's embargo on Russian oil supplies. About two-thirds of Russia's imports come from restricted maritime supplies.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

It is noted that EU sanctions will cost Russia about $ 10 billion a year because Moscow will have to sell fuel to Asia at a discount, where the prices are lower than the price of futures for Brent oil.

To remind, the European Union has agreed on anti-Russian sanctions, which will be included in the sixth package of restrictions. It was decided to ban more than two-thirds of Russia's oil imports by sea, cutting off "a huge source of financing for its military machine."

Other restrictions include disconnecting Sberbank, the Russia's largest bank, from SWIFT, the international interbank payment system, blocking the broadcast of Russia's three state broadcasters in the EU, and expanding the list of Russian sanctioned persons responsible for war crimes in Ukraine.

Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission President, said that the sanctions would reduce about 90% of Russia's oil imports to the EU by the end of this year.
