The United States will still provide Ukraine with long-range multiple rocket launchers, but they will not be able to fire deep into russia's territory.

The former US Ambassador to russia, Michael McFaul, wrote this on his Twitter.

"Clarifying comments from

Potus administration on MLRSs are more assuring. Ukraine will get new shipments of precision-guided missiles with longer ranges than Ukrainians have now, but not rockets that can strike deep into russia," - he said.

Washingtonpost.com confirms this information with reference to an influential US official. The official said that US President Joe Biden does not rule out sending MLRS to Ukraine, and the final decision has not yet been made.

"MLRS is under consideration, but there is nothing on the table with long-range strike capabilities," - the official said, speaking anonymously.

The paper notes that such systems can strike up to 186 miles (or almost 300 km. - Ed.).

The range of missiles fired from typical MLRS is 43 miles or almost 70 km. At the same time, the range of even these systems is almost twice the range of those Ukraine is using now. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine now use M777 howitzers from the United States, which have a range of about 28 miles.

On 30 May 2022, US President Joseph Biden said that the United States would not send those missile systems to Ukraine that could reach russian territory.
