As Russia is not stopping the war against Ukraine, the EU will dare to impose the next, full package of sanctions against the aggressor country.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas before the beginning of the second special meeting of the European Council, Ukrinform reports.

"I am happy that after a long discussion last night we finally reached an agreement (on the sixth sanctions package - Ed.). But definitely, we have to start negotiating the seventh package because things are not going better in Ukraine, the war continues, there is no peace. Ukraine must win this war, and we have not done enough for this," the Prime Minister said.

At the same time, Kallas noted that the new sanctions package is unlikely to include an embargo on Russian gas deliveries.

"We briefly discussed this yesterday but gas is a much more complicated issue than even oil. The next round of increased sanctions will be important. Until now, they have only affected russia, but now they will also have a negative effect on Europeans. That is why it is now much more difficult to address these issues politically. Gas should be in the seventh package but I have to be realistic. I don't think the gas will be there," Kallas explained.

The European Commission is reportedly holding a special meeting in Brussels. The participants have already adopted a resolution on Ukraine and agreed to continue providing our country with comprehensive political, financial, material, humanitarian and military support in the fight against the russian invasion.

Today, high-level participants of the EU meeting will discuss energy and global food security issues related to russia's aggression against Ukraine, as well as ways to enhance European security and defense.

We would like to remind you that the EU has announced the sixth package of anti-russian sanctions, which includes a partial oil embargo.
