Two major universities in Mykolayiv – shipbuilding and pegadogical – were hit by Russian rockets this morning as 10 strong explosions shook the city, mayor Oleksandr Senkevych and regional governor Vitaliy Kim have said.
Rescue services are working at the hit sites. At least two persons are known to have been injured.
"There were only two shipbuilding universities in the post-Soviet space: our in Mykolayiv and the one in St Petersburg," Kim said.
Yesterday, russia also shelled Mykolayiv, targeting a hotel and educational establishments in the city centre.
Kim suggested the russians were taking revenge for the recent destruction of their ammunition depots.
