By now Ukrainian defenders have restored control over 44 population centres in Kherson Region, the acting head of the Kherson regional military administration, Dmytro Butriy, has said at the Media Center Ukraine-Ukrinform.
"Most of Kherson Region remains under temporary occupation, 44 population centres have been liberated. They are suffering badly because the russian occupier is shelling them constantly. They are experiencing very heavy destruction," Butriy said.
He added that schools, kindergartens, hospitals and residential houses are being shelled.
According to Butriy, russia has started appointing its nationals to senior posts in occupying authorities instead of local defectors. In some areas, they recruit people with criminal records or those who have no relevant managerial experience at all.
