President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has nominated MP Andriy Kostin for prosecutor-general subject to parliament approval.
The motion has been published on the parliament website.
MPs may discuss the issue at their next meeting.
If approved, the decision will need to be endorsed by Zelenskyy's decree.
Odesa native, Kostin is a member of the Servant of the People faction, head of the parliamentary committee on law.
