Two incidents occurred simultaneously in occupied Crimea's Dzhankoy District this morning: a "fire at a transformer substation" and a "detonation at an ammunition depot" in the village of Mayske (Azovske, Qalay), the KrymInform news website has reported, quoting emergency services.

The Russian Defence Ministry has confirmed reports that a fire at a military unit in Dzhankoy District resulted in an "ammunition detonation".

Russian state media added that two people were injured at the depot. Sergei Aksyonov said residents of Azovske were being evacuated outside the 5-km zone.

The occupying authorities have begun evacuating people after explosions at an ammunition depot near Dzhankoy, with some 2,000 people having already left as of 10 a.m. Thousands of Russian citizens are already moving towards the bridge over the Kerch Strait.

"You were warned right after Novofedorivka - do not delay, leave our Crimea early... No, you should have waited for Dzhankoy," said Crimean Tatar Majlis leader Refat Chubarov.

The explosion at the ammunition depot has damaged the railway. Trains from Russia will not go further than the Vladyslavivka station near Feodosia, Russian media reported.

"'The 10-km railway track between Azovske and Rozyizd 10 stations was damaged as a result of the ammunition detonation in Dzhankoy District,'" a source in the emergency services said.

Currently, three trains carrying 2,000 passengers have been delayed. People are being taken by buses to temporary accommodation centres.
