Col Yuriy Madyar has been appointed commander of the 28th Detached Mechanised Brigade, the Dumska news website has reported.
He is 38 years old and war born in Kanora, Transcarpathian Region. He graduated from the Lviv Military Lyceum, the Kharkiv Institute of Tank Troops and the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport.
He returned to military service in 2014, was in charge of a tank company and later a tank battalion of the 24th Detached Mechanised Brigade. He took part in a number of operations to liberate settlements in Donetsk Region where he proved himself a good tactician.
