The Ukrainian military shot down an Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle, probably for the first time since the start of the full-scale russian invasion, the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports on Telegram.
"It is highly likely that the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time destroyed an Iranian strike unmanned aerial vehicle near Kupyansk," the statement says.
In appearance, it is exactly an Iranian UAV, a long-range kamikaze UAV Shahed-136.
Due to losses during the hostilities and international sanctions, the russian military is experiencing problems with the supply of drones. Thus, the russian federation bought UAVs from Iran.
According to the US, russia received Mohajer-6 and Shahed series drones from Iran over the course of several days in August. Earlier it was reported that russia had already received some of the Iranian combat drones, and they malfunctioned.
