President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.

Zelenskyy noted the importance of the report of the IAEA mission based on the results of the visit to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (NPP).

"Thank you for the fact that your employees are working on the ground with Ukrainian specialists," said Zelenskyy.

The president thanked Grossi for his help in securing the release of the director general of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, Ihor Murashov, who was abducted by the Russian military.

He noted that Putin's decision to transfer the plant under Russia's jurisdiction should be condemned by the IAEA, as it is actually a case of international hostile turnover.

"We've been waiting for a tough statement from the IAEA regarding this. Society is very much waiting for this condemnation. In my personal understanding, this is raiding," Zelenskyy emphasized.

According to him, the only possibility to guarantee the radiation safety of the plant, Ukraine and Europe is the complete demilitarization of the territory of the ZNPP. After all, he added, up to 500 Russian militants are still there.

Zelenskyy also emphasized the importance of resuming the operation of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, which will enable our state to provide electricity not only to Ukrainian, but also to European consumers.

Grossi, for his part, emphasized that the Russian president's decision to transfer the Zaporizhzhya NPP to Russian ownership is a violation of international law. Regarding all issues related to the plant, the IAEA will contact Ukraine exclusively.
