Russian troops are trying to hold the temporarily seized territories, focusing on attempts to disrupt the active actions of the Defence Forces in certain areas, while conducting offensives in the areas of Bakhmut and Avdiyivka, the Ukrainian General Staff said on the 226th day of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Russia is shelling Ukrainian troops' positions along the contact line, engineering the defensive borders and positions in certain areas and conducting aerial reconnaissance. They strike at civilian infrastructure and civilian homes, violating the norms of international humanitarian law, laws and customs of war.
The threat of air and missile strikes remains valid for the whole territory of Ukraine. During the day, Russian troops launched two missile and five air strikes, over 10 attacks from multiple rocket launchers. The Russian occupying authorities continue to exert pressure on Ukrainian citizens who stayed in the occupied territory of Donetsk Region. According to available information, in some districts of Horlivka, representatives of the "law enforcement agencies" intimidate local residents who did not support the occupied region's accession to Russia at an illegal referendum.
The search for men who avoid Russian mobilisation continues, they are detained and forcibly sent to units of the so-called 1st Army Corps to replenish losses.
According to available information, Russia is facing significant problems with material support for mobilisation. In particular, in early October, no more than half of the 8,000 mobilised persons staying at the Novosibirsk Higher Command School were provided with military uniforms. In addition, these personnel are issued only field uniforms and shoes. The rest of the equipment must be purchased at their own expense, draftees may also try and ask local authorities to provide it as humanitarian aid. The issue of providing the mobilised with helmets and bulletproof vests remains problematic.
