Ukrainian troops have already liberated seven settlements in Luhansk Region, the head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Serhiy Hayday, has said.

According to him, the deoccupation is taking place from Lyman towards Svatove.

The names of the liberated settlements are not disclosed in order not to expose them to intensified enemy shelling.

"The big problem was at the beginning, when the Armed Forces had to leave almost 70% of the territory. People did not even have time to leave normally. And then those 30% who stayed behind - it was just hell there. (Russians - Ed.) razed all the settlements there to the ground, fired with everything they had," Hayday said.

He added that Luhansk Region was an outpost that held back Russian troops, not allowing them to pass towards Bakhmut and Kharkiv.

A day earlier, Hayday said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Hrekivka from the Russian occupiers. The name of the settlement had to be made public after one of the soldiers posted a selfie on the background of the deoccupied village.
