Loud explosion sounds that Zaporizhzhya residents could hear were the work of Ukraine's air defence, the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Starukh, has said on Telegram.
"Three enemy missiles were destroyed over one of the communities in Zaporizhzhya District. Tentatively, no-one was hurt. Let us thank the Ukrainian Armed Forces! Let us believe in the Ukrainian Armed Forces!" he added.
At around 5.15 p.m., Starukh said Russia targeted Zaporizhzhya and the suburbs with rockets.
