Aviation of the Defence Forces conducted more than 20 strikes today. The destruction of 17 clusters of Russian weapons and military equipment was confirmed, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has said.
Ukrainian troops also hit four positions of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems. Air defence units shot down one enemy UAV.
Missile and artillery units hit one enemy command post.
Meanwhile, the Russians carried out one missile, 10 air strikes and eight attacks from multiple rocket launchers.
According to the command, the Russians attacked the areas of more than 10 settlements. In particular, Strilecha and Terny in Kharkiv Region, Pavlivka and Novosilka in Donetsk Region and Pravdyne and Bilohirka in Kherson Region.
According to the General Staff, the situation at the frontline as of 18.00 on 16 October:
- in Volyn and Polissya sectors - no significant changes. The planned rotation of Belarusian army units, which are involved in the protection of the state border, is underway. The threat of missile and air strikes, as well as the use of Shahed-136 UAVs from the territory of the republic remains;
- in the Sivershchyna sector, the occupiers fired from various types of artillery at the areas of the settlements of Senkivka, Hasychivka, Mykolayivka and Progres in Chernihiv Region and Bachivsk, Sosnivka and Pokrovka in Sumy Region;
- in the Slobozhanshchyna sector, the areas of Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Ohirtseve, Hatyshche, Vovchanski Khutory, Zybyne, Lyptsi, Zarichne and Kupyansk-Vuzlove in Kharkiv Region came under fire from tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery;
- in the Kramatorsk sector, the invaders opened fire from tanks and artillery along the contact line. In particular, near Hrekivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Region and Zarichne, Rozdolivka, Serebryanka and Yakovlivka in Donetsk Region;
- in the Bakhmut and Avdiyivka sectors, the occupiers fired from tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery along the entire contact line;
- in the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhya sectors, the Russians shelled more than 25 settlements. Among them are Vilne Pole, Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka, Novopil, Zolota Niva and Vuhledar in Donetsk Region and Zelenyy Hay, Shcherbaky, Orikhiv and Charivne in Zaporizhzhya Region;
- more than 35 settlements along the contact line in the Pivdennyy Buh area were targeted. In particular, Bilohirka, Novooleksandrivka, Sukhyy Stavok in Kherson Region and Shyroke, Kyselivka, Ternovi Pody and Stepova Dolyna in Mykolayiv Region.
About 9,000 Russian servicemen will arrive in Belarus as part of the deployment of a joint group of troops.
