The United Nations has no information about any "biological weapons" laboratories in Ukraine, as claimed by Russia, Director and Deputy High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Adedeji Ebo said at a meeting convened by the Russians.
The meeting was convened in response to the complaint filed by the Russian Federation regarding allegations of biological weapons programs in Ukraine. Ebo's speech is available on the UN website.
"As High Representative Nakamitsu told the Council in March and May this year, the United Nations is not aware of any such biological weapons programs. That remains the case today," he said.

Ebo added that the UN currently has neither the mandate nor the technical or operational capacity to investigate this information.
At this meeting, Ukraine reminded that Russians have repeatedly resorted to similar provocations, accusing Ukrainians of preparing non-existent attacks.
