Parliament has appointed Oleksiy Kubrakov new deputy prime minister and minister of infrastructure and regional development, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak of Voice has told LB.ua
Previously, these were two separate ministries.
The decision was backed by 263 MPs.
Prior to that, MPs dismissed Kubrakov from the post of infrastructure minister.
A source in the Servant of the People faction earlier told LB.ua: "The unification of the ministries is the first step to optimize the government. It is logical."
Another source explained that there were internal polls on Kubrakov's support.
"During the war, the attitude towards him (Kubrakov - ed.) has grown very positively. Such a merger is logical in terms of saving budget funds. But the main thing is to take into account the bad experience that we had back in 2019. I hope that the experiment with the appointment of Kubrakov a deputy premier with the powers of two ministries will be a good experience. He has already shown his managerial skills," a Servant of the People MP said.
