Several Ukrainian diplomatic missions received new threats after the explosion of a parcel at the Spanish Embassy. Now the embassies in Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Italy, the consulates general in Naples and Krakow, and the consulate in Brno have received bloody packages, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleh Nikolenko said on Facebook. According to him, the packages contained animal eyes.
The packages themselves were soaked in a liquid of a characteristic colour and had a corresponding smell. The meaning of the message is being studied.
"The entrance to the Ambassador's residence in the Vatican was vandalised, and the Embassy in Kazakhstan received a bomb threat, which was later not confirmed. The Embassy in the United States received a letter with a photocopy of a critical article about Ukraine, but, like most other envelopes, this letter came from the territory of one European country simultaneously with the others," noted Nikolenko.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that there are reasons to consider this is a well-planned campaign of terror and intimidation of Ukrainian embassies and consulates. Unable to stop Ukraine on the diplomatic front, they are trying to intimidate us.
"However, I can immediately say that these attempts are vain. We will continue to work effectively for the victory of Ukraine," he stressed.
The Ukrainian side cooperates with law enforcement agencies of foreign countries to investigate all cases of threats, identify the persons involved and bring them to justice. On the instruction of Dmytro Kuleba, all Ukrainian embassies and consulates have been put on enhanced security measures.
On 30 November, the Embassy of Ukraine in Madrid received a package addressed to the Ambassador. When opened by the commandant, it exploded. The man was slightly injured.
After that, Spanish law enforcement officers reported that letters with pyrotechnic material were also received by the Prime Minister of Spain, the Embassy of Ukraine in Madrid, the armament company whose products were supplied to Ukrainians, the Ministry of Defence, the Air Force base and the US Embassy.
