Russian occupiers are preparing a counteroffensive in the Kupyansk direction, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Cherevatyy, has said on the air of the national telethon, UNIAN reports.
According to him, the military are preparing for further Russian attacks.
"Indeed, the Russians are preparing a counteroffensive operation in the Luhansk sector, which includes the Kupyansk sector. We are aware of this and are actively counteracting it in Svatove and other areas where they are trying to counterattack," he said.
Cherevatyy noted that the situation is difficult but controllable.
"We see all their actions," he said.
According to the General Staff, Russia is conducting defensive actions in the Kupyansk sector. The areas of Dvorichna, Kupyansk, Kyslivka, Kotlyarivka, Tabayivka, Krokhmalne, Pishchane, Berestove and Pershotravneve in Kharkiv Region and Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk Region were targeted by tanks and the entire range of artillery.
