At a meeting on 16 December, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the appointment of former MP Viktor Yelenskyy as head of the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, LB.ua has learnt from sources.
The resolution on his appointment is expected to be published on Monday.
Yelenskyy is a member of parliament of the eighth convocation, representing the People's Front party, and was an adviser to Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk in 2014. He is a scientist, religious scholar, Doctor of Philosophy.
The previous head of the State Ethnic Policy Service, Olena Bohdan, was dismissed on 6 December due to "a number of comments on her work".
