President Biden told President Zelensky that the Ukrainian people "inspire the world" and blamed President Vladimir Putin of Russia for trying to "use winter as a weapon." Biden pledged continuing support for “the great people of Ukraine", The New York Times has reported.
According to the Ukrainian parliament's press service, Zelenskyy presented Biden with a medal from the commander of the HIMARS battery in the Oval Office.
"It is undeserved, but I appreciate it," Biden responded.
"It's good to have you back," CNN quoted Biden as saying at the start of the meeting. "It's an honor to be by your side in the united defense against what is a brutal, brutal war that is being waged by Putin."
