During the occupation of Kharkiv Region, Russians resorted to brutal torture. Even minors were kept in their torture chambers, regional police chief Volodymyr Tymoshko has said in an interview with Ukrinform.
"Most often, brutal beatings and torture with electric current were used. Gas masks were actively used, people were made to suffocate. In addition, there were cases of pulling out nails and sawing teeth with a file. Examinations of the bodies that were found in the de-occupied territories showed that there was torture associated with, let's say, harming the genitals. As a rule, with regard to men," Tymoshko said.
He noted that there is evidence of families with minor children being held in torture chambers.
Teenagers aged 14-16 were subjected to both physical and moral abuse. In particular, Russians threatened girls with rape.
"We have the testimony of a minor who was taken away from home with her parents. She said that they constantly came to her and each time they said: 'You are going to have fun.' The child was in the cell and understood that at any moment they could do anything to her," he added.
