Russia has thrown almost all its main forces at Donetsk Region and maintains a high intensity of the offensive. Fierce fighting continued in Soledar at night, Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar reported on Telegram.
"Our fighters are bravely trying to hold the line. This is a difficult stage of the war, but we will win. There is no doubt," she noted.
Soledar is a city in Donetsk Region, located near Bakhmut. The occupiers have been trying to capture Bakhmut for months, but the Ukrainian defence forces are resisting.
On 9 January, the Russians began a powerful assault on Soledar. After retreating, they regrouped, changed tactics and began to assault. To do this, Russia used the most trained reserve of Wagner militants.
