German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Tuesday, 14 February, that Germany has signed contracts with Rheinmetall to resume production of ammunition for Gepard anti-aircraft systems that it had supplied to Kyiv, The Guardian reports.

“We will quickly start our own production of Gepard ammunition at Rheinmetall. I am very happy we have been able to guarantee the delivery of this important part of air defence,” Pistorius said before a meeting with NATO ministers in Brussels.

In February, Ukraine received a new aid package from Germany. It included Gepards, ammunition, and vehicles for border guards. The country also donated power generators, trucks, and mobile antenna systems.

Recently, the Ukrainian military has started training on Leopard 2 tanks in Germany. The training will be completed by the end of the first quarter.
