Employees of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (ESBU) handed over more than 3,000 hemostatic agents, more than 200 load-bearing vests, plate carriers and armour plates for the needs of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine.

Helmets, first aid kits, night vision devices and optical sights were also donated. The total cost of the shipment is UAH 2 million, according to the ESBU website.

Protective equipment and other goods were imported to Ukraine with forged documents as humanitarian aid, however, instead of handing over the ammunition to the military, the perpetrators tried to sell it.

ESBU detectives disrupted an illegal scheme of supplying military and dual-use goods to Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid. The consignment was seized during searches of premises in Kyiv Region.

During the pre-trial investigation, the Bureau of Economic Security obtained a court decision to transfer the property to the needs of the Armed Forces.

Two participants in the criminal proceedings have been served a notice of suspicion under Art. 209 (legalization (laundering) of the proceeds of crime) and Part 3 of Art. 212 (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by detectives of the ESBU jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office. The ESBU recently handed over seized equipment worth UAH 112 million to the Armed Forces.
