Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said he had submitted the relevant documents for approval of new deputies, according to his Facebook post.
According to him, decisions will be made on staffing and structural renewal of the ministry.
"I would like to announce some relevant decisions concerning the personnel and structural renewal of the Ministry of Defence to improve its efficiency. There will be new deputy ministers. I have already submitted the relevant documents for approval," he said in a statement.
Update. Later, Vitaliy Deyneha, founder of the Come Back Alive volunteer (Povernys Zhyvym) Foundation, wrote on his Facebook page that he was "very close to being appointed Deputy Minister of Defence for Digital Transformation."
Deyneha said that "you will learn about the Cabinet's decision tomorrow," and "I will inform you about mine as soon as it becomes final." According to him, this is not the first proposal of this nature. "I have had higher-level offers. And even for the same position," added the founder of the foundation.
In addition, according to LB.ua's sources, other candidates for the deputy defence minister post include former Ukrainian ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko and former head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and JFO commander General Oleksandr Pavlyuk.
As for Pavliuk, on 13 February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree supplementing the list of positions filled by servicemen of the Armed Forces, other military formations, and special purpose law enforcement agencies in, among other things, government agencies. According to the amendments, the position of First Deputy Defence Minister can be held by a lieutenant general or a vice admiral.
Recently, the Minister of Defence named some ways to prevent corruption in the ministry and announced a search for relevant personnel.
