Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that the first Leopard tanks would be sent to Ukraine in March, according to a tweet from the Polish defence ministry.

"Today, during a meeting of the Defence Contact Group in Brussels, we discussed effective support for Ukraine. Other countries have announced their participation in this coalition. In March, the first Leopard tanks will be sent to Ukraine," Blaszczak was quoted as saying by the ministry's press service.

Later, the Polish Defence Ministry added that the number of members of the "tank coalition" is growing: Germany is building a coalition of Leopard 2A6 tank owners, and Poland is building a coalition of Leopard 2A4 tank owners.

"Norway has joined the agreement between Canada and Spain. We are working to ensure that Finland also donates these types of tanks," Blashchak added.

Norway provides Ukraine with eight Leopard 2 tanks, ammunition, and up to four special tanks.

Meanwhile, the German army will start training the Ukrainian military with Leopard 2 tanks next week.
