The United States will support international investigations into war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, US Vice President Kamala Harris said during her speech at the Munich Security Conference, LB reports.
“In the case of Russia’s actions in Ukraine we have examined the evidence, we know the legal standards, and there is no doubt: these are crimes against humanity,” Harris said.
According to her, the U.S. will support legal proceedings in Ukraine and international investigations into the matter.
“Let us all agree: on behalf of all the victims, known and unknown, justice must be served,” Harris concluded.
On 7 December, the resolution recognizing Russia's actions as genocide was supported by the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
On 17 February, several U.S. senators reintroduced a resolution recognizing Russia's actions in Ukraine as genocide against the people of Ukraine.
