In captured Mariupol, Russian occupiers have destroyed historic buildings - the city centre has turned into a ruin, Petro Andryushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, reports on Telegram.
"The historic centre of the city is in ruins. Among the mutilated buildings is the Industrial College on Heorhiyivska Street," Andryushchenko said.
He said that the building, constructed in the late 19th century, has a long and colourful history. It was here that the Alexandrinum male gymnasium was located. Its graduates included prominent Mariupol residents such as psychologist and philosopher Heorhiy Chelpanov, ophthalmologist Mykhaylo Averbakh, and artist Viktor Arnautov.
"Now there is a Russian tricolour hoisted on the destroyed building. So now everyone can see what the 'Russian world' means - destruction and death," he said.
Earlier, Russians destroyed a historic 19th-century building located on Hretska Street.
