Zelenskyy, President of Latvia visit Lviv

The President of Ukraine visited the hospital where Ukrainian defenders are being treated and presented them with state awards.

During a working visit to Lviv Region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited one of the hospitals treating wounded Ukrainian defenders who fought, in particular, in the Bakhmut area, the press service of the Presidential Office reports.

Zelenskyy spoke with the military and wished them a speedy recovery.

"Thank you for your service, for the heroic defence of our homeland. I wish you a speedy recovery," the President said.

Zelenskyy presented the military with state awards. In particular, mortar launchers, riflemen, anti-aircraft gunners, grenade launchers, and combat medics received the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyy, III grade, and For Courage, III grade.

The President awarded the Order of Danylo Halytskyy to the Armed Forces Medical Forces representatives for providing qualified medical care to soldiers.

"I want to thank you for your work and service, especially this year. It has been the most difficult test for everyone. Thank you for putting so many of our soldiers, our heroes, back on their feet," the President said.

Also in Lviv, President Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska, together with President of Latvia Egils Levits and his wife Andra Levite, paid tribute to the Ukrainian soldiers who died during the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The Heads of State and First Ladies laid flowers at the graves of Ukrainian defenders at the Field of Honour at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.

Levits visited Ukraine last April, along with his colleagues from Poland, Estonia and Latvia. They were the first heads of state to arrive in Kyiv since the start of the full-scale invasion.
