In Kherson Region, law-enforcement officers exhumed the bodies of two men tortured by the Russian military, the Office of the Prosecutor General has said.
"According to the investigation, the victims were local residents. During the temporary occupation of the city of Kherson, Russian servicemen illegally detained the men almost a month apart. They were placed in a temporary detention centre, which the occupiers arranged to imprison and torture citizens," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
During a cursory examination, the tortured men showed signs of numerous injuries, including broken ribs.
The bodies were sent for forensic examination. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
