The commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lt-Gen Serhiy Nayev, has said that the sky over the capital is now protected as Kyiv Region has an extensive air defence system.

He said this when commenting on the readiness of our forces to repel the threat from the air over Kyiv Region, Ukrinform reports.

"Currently, the sky over the capital is protected. This conclusion is confirmed by an extensive system of various air defence systems dispersed in certain places in Kyiv Region," he said.

In addition, according to Nayev, these forces and means are constantly maneuvering on the ground so that Russia does not figure out where exactly our air defence means are located.

"This entire system is constantly maintained in combat readiness. In particular, timely warning and targeting are organized through the appropriate channels of the control system. Thanks to this, each unit and crew receives its own separate task to repel the threat from the air in a short time," Nayev said.

Earlier, Nayev noted that the effectiveness of the air defence system has improved significantly, and the downing rate of enemy missiles is 80%.
