Today, 22 March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Ukrainian defenders in the Bakhmut area, the President's press service said.
"Donetsk Region. The frontline positions of the Ukrainian military in the Bakhmut area. I am honoured to be here today to award our heroes. To shake hands and thank them for protecting the sovereignty of our country," the message reads.
The defenders were awarded the III Grade Order "For Courage" and medals "For Military Service to Ukraine".
The press service also reported that the head of state visited wounded Ukrainian soldiers in a hospital in Donetsk Region.
Zelenskyy also checked the medical facility's capacity to receive patients. He inspected a computed tomography scanner, an operating room and an intensive care unit.
The President awarded the Orders of the 3rd Class Bohdan Khmelnytskyy, 3rd Class Princess Olha and Danylo Halytskyy to the representatives of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"I want to thank you for your professionalism and your work. Before we win, we need to save the lives of many people who are defending our country. You are defending it on your frontline. I wish you health, and I am grateful that you return this health to the guys and girls at the front," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
