The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Yevhen Lyashchenko as chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsya (Ukrainian Railway), following a recommendation by the supervisory board, Oleksandr Kubrakov, minister of communities, territories and infrastructure development, has said.

Lyashchenko is appointed for a two-year term.

Previously, he was responsible for finance at Ukrzaliznytsya.

The new head of the company has three key tasks: continuing the corporate reform, implementing the investment programme (development of export routes and creation of the necessary infrastructure, electrification of the necessary railway sections, etc.), moving the company in the black.

To this end, the action plan has already been approved.

At the end of February, Oleksandr Kamyshin resigned as board chairman of Ukrzaliznytsya. Today, on 21 March, parliament appointed Kamyshin minister for strategic industries.
