Russians have allocated 360 million rubles (UAH 114 million) to destroy libraries in the occupied territories of Ukraine, the National Resistance Centre has reported.

The occupiers continue to remove Ukrainian books from local libraries in the temporarily occupied territories and replace them with Russian literature.

“Yet another proof that history is cyclical. Thus, according to available data, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation allocates 200 million rubles for the purchase and distribution of Russian books in the TOT of the south and east,” the statement said.

At the same time, about 120 million rubles go for the creation of three model libraries in each occupied region and 40 million for financing the libraries of the occupied regions controlled by the occupiers.

Russians are reported to seize Ukrainian books and burn them in boiler houses.

At the same time, millions of books were removed from Ukrainian libraries in the process of de-Russification. However, currently, 44% of books in public libraries are still in Russian.
