The deputy chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine (FTU) was caught trying to give $150,000 in a bribe, the press service of the Prosecutor-General's Office has said.

Law enforcers found that in 2019, he, along with other officials, made a decision to illegally transfer the building of a state-owned spa resort in Kyiv to a private company.

According to the conclusion of the forensic construction expertise, the total value of the premises was UAH 138.308m. The hospital, which was not subject to alienation at all, was sold at a much lower price.

In December, the court of first instance ordered his pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with an alternative of bail in the amount of UAH 124m, and also suspended him from his position for a period of two months. At the request of prosecutors, the measure of restraint was repeatedly extended.
