Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella discussed current areas of cooperation in finance and defence, as well as sanctions against Russia's nuclear industry and the work of Grain from Ukraine at a meeting in Rome.
"Italy will support Ukraine as long as it is needed. I am grateful to Italian President Sergio Mattarella for these words of solidarity," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.
He noted that they discussed current areas of cooperation: finance, defence, and sanctions.
Ukraine appreciates Italy's military and technical assistance to Ukraine's security and defence forces and expects the SAMP/T system to arrive in Ukraine as soon as possible and defend Ukrainian skies.
Shmyhal thanked Italy for its willingness to join the implementation of President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula and for supporting Ukraine's European aspirations.
Ukraine also expects Italy to support the country's accession to NATO, as this will be the best guarantee of peace and security in Europe.
