Aviation was involved in shooting own Shahed attack drones launched by Russia overnight, the spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, has said, RBC-Ukraine reports.
"The aircraft we use to shoot down, in particular, UAVs, is not as effective as we would like it to be," Ihnat explained.
According to him, the pilots are stationed at operational airfields. At the same time, aviation can be used in areas that, for example, contain fewer air defence systems.
"Air defence is operating in one place, and mobile groups in another. In areas with fewer air defence assets, fighters can operate. They can take off quickly, react quickly and destroy UAVs," he added.
