Over the day, Russia has launched 18 missile strikes against Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions using a dozen Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles, which were eventually destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russians fired eight S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles against Dnipro twice in one day. They also carried out 60 air strikes, using Shahed drones to target the cities of Merefa and Izyum in Kharkiv Region, as well as guided aerial bombs on Avdiyivka and the village of New York.
The Russians also fired about 34 times from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troops' positions and settlements. There were killed and wounded among the civilian population, a medical facility in Dnipro, educational institutions in Izyum and New York, apartment blocks and private houses were damaged.
The aviation of the Defence Forces carried out eight strikes on the clusters of Russian personnel and military equipment over the day. Missile and artillery units struck three command posts, two areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, an ammunition depot, two artillery units at firing positions, an air defence facility and another important enemy target.
The Russians continue to focus their main efforts on the Kupнansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka and Maryinka sectors. There were 18 combat engagements there during the day.
On the night of 26 May, Russia launched another attack on Ukraine, firing 17 missiles of various types and 31 kamikaze drones. The Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed 10 cruise missiles, 23 Shaheds and two reconnaissance drones.
In addition, the Russians dropped chemical grenades from drones in Avdiyivka.
