Next month, Denmark and the Netherlands, in cooperation with the United States, will begin developing a training base for Ukrainian pilots to train on F-16 fighters, Ukrinform has reported.
Following the Ramstein-12 meeting, US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said that several allies and partners discussed plans to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighters, including the F-16.
Norway, Belgium, Portugal and Poland intend to join the training of Ukrainian pilots.
"We expect other countries to join our important initiative soon," said Lloyd Austin.
Earlier it was reported that training of Ukrainian pilots on American F-16 fighters could start after June. According to acting Danish Defence Minister Troels Poulsen, the training process will take six months, while according to the US estimate, it may take about four months.
