In the future, Ukraine should become a full member of NATO, not just a privileged partner. Therefore, the establishment of the NATO-Ukraine Council should be accompanied by a clear step that will bring the country closer to membership, Foreign Minister Dmytro has said.

"Establishing the NATO-Ukraine Council in Vilnius without a decisive step towards membership is like giving a tank without a gun. NATO needs Ukraine as a member state of the alliance, not just a privileged partner," the minister said.

Kuleba made this statement following a conversation with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock. He also expressed gratitude to Germany for its support.

Today, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the allies could agree to establish a NATO-Ukraine Council. According to him, this would strengthen the partnership between the alliance and Ukraine. In addition, this would be a body that, unlike the NATO-Ukraine Commission, could make decisions.
