Vasyl Malyuk, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), has confirmed that his agency was behind the explosion at the Kerch (Crimea) Bridge.

He stated this during the presentation of a postage stamp dedicated to the activities of the special service and its contribution to Ukraine's defence, the SSU press centre said.

"Since the first days of the full-scale invasion by Russia, SSU employees have been destroying the enemy in the hottest spots and doing everything to liberate our land as soon as possible. The damage to the Crimea Bridge is one of our achievements. I am convinced that the unique special operations conducted by the SSU will be reflected on new postage stamps," said Malyuk.

He thanked SSU employees for their work, expressing a hope that "the number of their combat missions will match the number of their [safe] returns to the places of deployment". Also, the fallen heroes were honoured with a moment of silence.

Malyuk added that postage stamps would be sent to front-line special forces.

"Our fighters will be able to use them to mark the ammunition used to destroy the enemy. And send a message to the occupiers from all Ukrainians. Let me assure you: the SSU is good in cancelling both stamps and the Muscovites," he said.

Recently, Ukrainian law-enforcement agencies reported that the attack on the Crimea Bridge, which took place on the night of 17 July, was a special operation by the SSU and the Ukrainian Navy. At the time, the SSU did not officially comment on its participation.

A day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine should take the Crimea Bridge out of order.

The Russia-built bridge was attacked by surface drones. According to Russian media, one span of the bridge was destroyed, another one shifted.

The previous explosion at the Crimea Bridge was in early October. The Russians have arrested more than 20 people on charges of participation in the explosion at the Crimea Bridge.
